18th Bolton Scout Group

About the Beaver Scout Colony

Beavers are boys and girls aged 6 - 8 years old.  We organise our Beaver Colony into Lodges
with each lodge having its own name linked to the beaver animal and
habitat.   The names of the lodges change every two years so that each cohort of beavers gets opportunity to learn about the beaver animal and choose their lodge names.   Due to the size of our Group HQ we limit the Beaver Colony to 18 beaver scouts, There are at least 3 adult leaders, supported for some activities by parent helpers.

We meet weekly during term time for one hour.  We set out our half termly plans around activity badges, challenge badges and themes.  During the half term running up to and after the summer break we usually do outdoor activities which may include wide games, team games, walks and hikes around Rivington.

Each year we organise at least one night away, sleeping within a building and doing lots of fun activities such as grass sledging, water games, tracking, trailing and craft.
